After Berlin, I journeyed to what would become my favorite destination on this trip.

Prague was beautiful, rich in history, and a lot of fun. I was obsessed with the beer — which, much to my surprise, exceeded Belgium in both availability and affordability. Everywhere I turned there was another cozy pub pouring perfectly crisp Pilsner.

I couldn’t stop fawning over the castles and cathedrals, towering over the city with centuries of stories behind them. Even on a more mundane level, I found the city impeccably clean and remarkably safe.

Switching over to the Czech koruna took some adjustment. I had been working with euros since Paris, and suddenly calculating crowns to USD made me feel like a confused tourist again. Luckily, when beer is this cheap, money problems sort of fade away.

Overall, I found Prague insanely affordable for what it offers. Restaurants were great, and the service was always warm and welcoming even to an ignorant American tourist like myself.

I wandered the Jewish Quarter, tried pastries from local bakeries, and explored Old Town. I made sure to catch the show at the Astronomical Clock, which was absolutely worth stopping for. A hike up to Prague Castle rewarded me with stunning views and some of my favorite photos from the entire trip.

Nightlife, though… that became the highlight. I joined another traveler’s bar crawl and made a whole new crew of friends and probably indulged in way too much absinthe (I had been warned…). We ended up at Karlovy Lázně, the famous five-story nightclub, where my drunken brain stopped caring about koruna exchange rates entirely.

The night ended in the best way: a quiet stroll through the empty streets and chain-smoked cigarettes on the balcony of my hostel, easily the nicest accommodation I stayed in on this whole adventure.
